Please share a fond memory that brings a smile to your face. Hopefully, it'll bring a smile to one who is hurting. The best we can do is to help each other. I'll start:
She liked to volunteer me for tasks lol I didn't really mind. We were coming from JSU in AL back to our home in Glencoe, AL. She spotted a family with a flat tire on the side of the highway. I still remember the family name.
The family consisted of the parents and three wee ones. My LW watched them as we passed by and asked me to pull a U-ee to offer to help them. I made a U turn and pulled in behind them. They didn't have a spare tire for their station wagon and it was still early enough to make a run to Walmart to replace their tire. So I drove the dad and the wheel to Walmart, replaced their tire and drove him back to his family. We replaced the tire and saw them off. As we drove home, I told her, "you know, that was freaking dangerous, babe." Her reasoning was, they needed help.
Years later, we had moved to my homestate. The neighbors had lost their home to a tornado and they moved into the rental next door. She came in and told me to get dressed, the new neighbors needed help. We moved furniture in for them until one of them wasn't paying attention, tripped and slammed a bed frame into my large toe...
...I forgot to mention, I'm a dumbass, my usual footwear are sandals...
The neighbor broke my big toe. Luckily, that was the last of the heavy furniture. She helped me hobble home and proceeded to baby me. She said that would be the last time she'd volunteer me to do anything (it was, in fact, not the last time).
I'm smiling. I did whatever I could to spoil her. Anyway, I hope my memories made you smile today, even in your pain and grief
