It's fond memory Friday. Please share a memory of your late spouse/SO that brings a smile to your face. Maybe your memory will ease the pain of others in their journeys. I will apologize in advance, my memory today isn't funny but it is one of my fondest memories.
My LW was a crocheter. She had been one since she was a kid and she'd learn some of the most complex stitches just to make it simpler for friends. The majority of her projects were gifts, never once selling a single item. She crocheted baby clothes for dolls. Her projects grew to clothes for real babies, afghans for family members, and hats. There is a picture of me wearing a crocheted viking helmet with horns, a full beard and mustache with braids in the beard.
Her last unfinished project was a baby's dress and blanket for a young Dr who was pregnant with her first child. She passed away before she could finish the little dress. I spent my days watching my LW happily crochet that dress while she was in the hospital and when her selected color yarn grew short, I went out and bought more, just to spoil her.
The day she passed, for no understandable reason, I found the need to give the young Dr the unfinished project. I apologized profusely for it being unfinished and my crochet skills being seriously lacking. She said her mother was a crocheter and she would finish my LW's project.
I got a text message almost a year later. It was a picture of this happy baby laughing/smiling. God love this young woman, she remembered me and showed me a picture of her daughter in my LW's last project.
