I want to make this a weekly thing. Share a memory that makes you smile, helps you heal, and maybe gives the newly grieving a smile. I'll start:
We worked second shift at food processing plant; basically, we took raw food, cooked it, mass packaged, froze it and shipped off to clients like McDs, Taco Bell, and Campbell's. We'd clock out around midnight and do our dinner shopping before going home
This was before we had gotten married. We were at Food World and in separate aisles. My oldest brother taught me my manners. I walked down the aisle and passed an older woman, telling her, "excuse me ma'am". The older woman speed walks by me and turns the corner. I don't think much of it, find my food, find my beautiful fiancé, check out and go home. My soon to be wife looks at me in the car with a touch of amusement and a touch of pride.
"Some woman came up to and said I raised my adopted son so well, I should be very proud," she told me.
I looked at her with a lost expression.
"See her?" She pointed at an older lady hurriedly walking from the doors to her car. "She thought you were my son."
My late wife was 2.5yrs older than me. I have my dad's genes, always looked younger than I really am.
Her going joke with friends and complete strangers (when they saw us smooch) would be: "You need to get them young, raise them right, so they know how to treat you right."
I still get carded at 48 LMAO
