I am having a terrible time getting a close shave without ABSOLUTELY destroying my neck’s skin. I formerly used cartridge blades and canned shave foam. It worked perfectly and I never had skin irritation. I switched to wet shaving with a DE razor and high quality cream lathered with a pretty good brush. I can shave WTG without any irritation, but it’s not a close enough result. I lather up again and go against the grain and it shreds my skin on my neck. I’m using light pressure already. If I lighten up any more, I’ll be holding the razor off my face trying to scare the hair off. My pre shave routine is a hot shower and then pre shave oil before the lather. My first razor was a closed comb mild three piece with Nacet blades. I just purchased a Merkur 37 slant. Used it with a new Nacet blade and got an even worse result. I have normal skin and don’t have thick beard hair. What I’m I doing wrong?!
