Shavette vs. Straight

Just looking for guidance here. I've been DE shaving for a few years now, but I've been thinking about trying out a straight.

I've considered one of roctraitor's deals, but I like the low maintenance of a shavette. If I were to get a shavette I'd probably go with a Parker SR1.

Is there much of a difference in the way these two types of razors shave? Would I be missing out on something if I went with a shavette?

Should I even bother with a shavette or is going that route just going to be a waste of money?
