So I get really bad razorburn when I shave. I found that switching from a cartridge to a dual edge safety blade helped, as well as using lotion instead of shaving cream. (Didn't have them anymore as I haven't shaved in forever, so had to butcher myself with a cartridge)
What I really want though, is a shave where there is truly no grain. Where I can rub my hand across my face is every direction, and feel nothing but smoothness. This would require going against the grain though, which my skin DOES NOT like. It's also just hard to truly get that under jaw/neck crevice totally smooth, even if I try to cover every possible direction, it feels like hair still remains, and then my skin gets irritated or cut from so many passes.
It's not something I'm looking to do daily, or even regularly. Just occasionally it would feel nice to feel a truly smooth face, but I feel like my only option would be seeing a professional barber.
Any tips and advice on a good way to approach this, as well are afforable gear recommendations would be much appreciated :)
