After getting a Mekur DE as a Christmas pressie, I have been shaving with it - and really not getting great results. Today for the first time I got a good shave. Initially I had to use a cartridge after shaving to get bits that were missed. So it took some time and technique till I felt comfortable enough to close to the lips & nose and get a decent shave. Don't give up! Here are some newbie tips that helped me

Only shave flat parts of face, don't attempt to do the chin curve, break it up to smaller bits.
Get a razor blade you like. Get a selection pack and try them. I am using the persona now and like it
Change the blade after 3 shaves. I have a thick beard and after 3 shaves the blade isn't as good
Spend a little more time making a good lather.
