Round 1: At 9:00 AM on a typical Tuesday for your chosen character, Mr. Poe shows up, informs the character that they are now the legal guardian of three orphans, and drives off before doing anything constructive; unless the character tries to commit a straight-up felony within 2 minutes, Poe will leave them in spite of any rational protests to the contrary by any party. How well equipped is your character to meet the physical and emotional needs of three sad children?
Round 2: Count Olaf shows up looking to steal the orphans, either by killing your chosen character, getting them arrested, or making them look unsuitable to whatever passes for DCFS/Child Welfare on the character's world. Keep in mind the following- 1) Poe's paperwork was all in order, so Olaf can't use that. 2) Unless local authorities are noted as being particularly paranoid/security-minded, Olaf's disguises will trick them. 3) Olaf is willing to take his time and do research to discover any particular weaknesses or vulnerabilities the character may have. 4) Unless the character possesses some level of meta-knowledge, the Baudelaire's warnings about Olaf carry no more weight or credibility than the character would otherwise assign a group of three children they just met with a crazy story about how the guy on the porch is, in fact, a homicidal actor.
Round 3: Presuming that the character successfully out-tricks/plays/murders (strike as needed) Olaf and retain guardianship, how good of a job do they do raising the kids? By the time Sunny turns 18, has the character raised three functional young adults?
