Follow Up on My Interview: My application wasn't the job I was offered

Post Body

A few weeks ago I had asked about my WF application as a decorator. I had been invited to take the assessment and it was under "Bakery Team Member". A few people said "Well, a decorator counts as a BTM so that sounds about right." Something told me it sounded just about wrong. I was, unfortunately, right.

🥲 I took the assessment and was called in for an interview. When I went to the bakery for my interview, I couldn't find the manager. I asked around and 3 people asked me who I was looking for before I finally got to meeting her.

The interview was long and she was taking a lot of notes so I felt it was going well. We had a few laughs and everything was good until I showed her my portfolio.

She then says, "Yeah you're not going to be decorating. I already have 3 decorators." I sat there thinking "😬" because I had told her at my previous baking job I was a clerk for almost 5 years. I wanted to be a decorator but they gave me the runaround. So after she had told me word for word that I would be wrapping and doing the retail side I thought to myself, "Oh. How lovely. Can I go?"

After that, I was pretty bummed. I have an assessment to be a decorator for another grocery store and a more local one too so that's not that bad. They are a well known store. But it's a bummer when you apply for something and that's not what is offered. She even asked me if I wanted to work in any other depts. Which I guess is standard, however, I am looking for a good foot in the door career.
