Recommendations for someone new to scotch/Irish whiskey
Post Body

I really enjoy whiskey but so far most of everything I have tried has been bourbon and rye (I love a good rye). I would like to give scotch/Irish whiskey a shot however it seems daunting. Not only due to the history and rhetoric surrounding it but also the fact that of the few scotches I’ve tried most smell like dirt and moth balls and taste kinda the same. What beginner recommendations do y’all have that are a perhaps more approachable. Preferably like in the $50 range (I’m a broke grad student in the southern US)
