Snake whip core

Hey all - I’m making my first leather snake after doing a couple leather bullwhips that turned out nicely. I’m confused as to what I’m supposed to do to make my core. I’ve read books, most of the tutorials are for paracord and I can’t find an answer I trust. Hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.
