Hi all!
Woke up this morning to find that my bike has been stolen (from the bike room in my building no less), so I'm in the market for one.
I mostly use it for cycling to work (10 minutes or so) and to go on ~15 mile rides at the weekend with my partner.
The bike that's gone walkies was a Carrera Gryphon from the UK - it was a decently quick hybrid that I paid £100 for used a few years ago (https://www.thebikelist.co.uk/carrera/gryphon-2011).
I'm looking at getting another used bike now but hoping to not spend more than $300 ish. I've been looking at this used Schwinn road bike https://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/bik/d/chicago-23-58cm-gray-schwinn-sprint/7230127610.html for $100. It looks in decent condition and is my size (I'm 5'10"), though I imagine it is going to be a step down (heavier, stem shifter, etc. etc.).
I'm in Chicago these days and it seems covid has led to the usual glut of used bikes being bought up. I'm not in a huge rush to get something since it's going to get very cold very soon. I'm checking local bike shops, but there isn't much in these days.
Any thoughts? Or even suggestions for something new? Thanks!
