I've got a potentially odd question I hoped someone here might be able to answer.
My fiance has some mobility problems that means she's thinking about getting a wheelchair. She also recently had bariatric surgery, and is still losing weight steadily. Unfortunately we live in New Zealand, which means there's limited availability of different brands and models.
We found a wheelchair that looks good but it has a listed weight limit of 110kg (ie, around 240 lbs). Unfortunately her current weight is 122kg (around 270 pounds), although as noted it's continuing to decline as the result of surgery.
In general, would people say that weight limits are just guidelines, and being a few kg over is no big deal, especially since in another few months she'll almost certainly be under the weight limit? Or are listed weight limits a big deal and this wheelchair would be obviously unsuitable (at least for now)?
For reference the wheelchair she was looking at was a Freiheit Freedom (NZ vendor link).
