Post Body

[Hawaii]

We were paddling around in Carlsmith Beach Park this afternoon and encountered a banded, light dark alternating, snake-like creature in a classic serpentine on the floor of the bay. Since I have never heard of a not venomous sea snake we stopped what we were doing and moved away; it continued towards shore in the same pattern I have seen snakes move across sand dunes on tv. It was definitely banded with yellow and dark tones and in about 3-4’ of warm & cold mixing currents adjacent to a lot of trees and lava rock. Sorry for no photos - we don’t bring them in the water.
