Southern California - Inherited two of these small trees in my yard. What are they?

Pictures below. They have extremely flakey/peely bark and the leaves consist of small branching needles vs long pine needles. I trimmed them last year and the wood is also very light and very soft feeling. Not dense at all. Really curious what the heck they are.
