WTW for this issue with democracy where multiple similar but very specific parties/options can't compete with big more general parties/options?

Is there even a word for it? Someone made a poll in a groupchat I'm in and the votes for the specific options that were very similar to each other didn't stand a chance against a completely different option because the votes were spread out. Now I want to make a joke about that fact and wonder if there's some official word for this dilemma I could use.
