Movie about a serial killer with black leather mask...

I have a vague recollection of a movie I saw in late 80s/early 90s about a man who was a seemingly normal loving husband but was secretly a serial killer who wore a black leather mask maybe with a zip on mouth (like a gimp mask lol) and all I really remember clearly is the ending his wife finds the mask hidden in a cupboard or closet or something and a confrontation happened. Sorry its not much to go on. May have been a VHS rental from the video store.
