I remember looking at this book on my local bookstore's website, but I don't remember much about it. The cover would have been maybe mostly white, possibly with mountains in the background? I don't know if the book was originally written in French or not, but it might have been, if that's any help. I'm 95% sure it was European, at any rate.

A guy comes back from the mountains after having been attacked, or something. In any case, he is no longer the same, the experience changed him. His significant other, also a guy, is taking care of him, and I suppose something else happens. I don't know if this is sci fi or a thriller or what, but I am 100% it was a gay relationship. The guy was attacked by a monster or a killer or something.
