I found it in my elementary school(?) on my classroom bookshelf I think. Most likely age appropriate. It's fiction. English. Found it The first chapter of the book talks about how someone sees/hears an advertisement while commuting to/from work about this new VR opportunity. At first, the protagonist isn't sure about it but there's nothing else exciting going on in their life so they give it a try. The person goes into the VR world multiple times, and each time, they stay in the VR world longer and longer.
Towards the end of the book, someone pisses on a fire and someone else razzes the pisser, and the pisser justifies themselves in some way. I think it's during a rescue attempt and this group wants to be seen by an airplane, but why would they piss on a fire and risk putting it out? I must be getting some details wrong.
