Post Body

I just uncovered a deep memory from my childhood, there was a book I read and enjoyed in my 2nd or 3rd grade class. I'm 18 now, so this was just about a decade, or slightly over a decade ago. (2010-2011 era)

This was a fiction chapter book, for kids, written from a cat's perspective. (It was indeed in english, and this was in the US if that helps.) This cat lived with its owner, and I recall a rat infestation being discovered in the cellar of their house. The cat had to fight the rats away at the end, to keep the owner safe, I'm pretty sure. (Note, the cat could only speak in its own language, so it couldn't talk to the owner or anything)

I got this book at the school library, a lot of details are incredibly vague. I'll make a list of elements that could have been in the book, but I'm not 100% on.

  • there may have also been a dog living in the house, maybe a friend of the cat?

  • pretty sure the owner was a kid living with their parents

  • I don't think the owner knew about the rats until after or during the fight

  • I remember the cat being orange

  • I believe it was paperback

  • it probably wasn't brand new when I read it, but within a few years range is likely

  • the book took place in a modern setting

  • I'm not confident on the cover color at all, I'm thinking it might have been blue, but take that lightly. The cat was probably on the cover.

  • probably around 150-200 pages if I had to guess
