Read that book as a teenager now don't remember the name and barely any more details than the following.

It's about a seaside, dreamy town where ships rarely dock. A young man who later joins bandits, smugglers. Falls in love with the town's rich man's daughter One main detail that could help is that the shallow waters have rocks that kill a ship if not careful. So the ships have to be extra cautious and no one tries to come near the dock at night. Second, it has 'moon' in its title. Third, I vaguely remember it was written by poet but I might be wrong. It's a classic. Has a happy ending!

I sorely miss that book, it was quite an escape, and want to read it again. Please help.
