A woman I visit is no longer able to read, but she loved to previously. She's told me that her favorite books were written by a Scottish female author, are about family, and are set around the 1930s. That's all she can remember. Any ideas would be appreciated!
Edit: Thank you all for the suggestions! I'm going to see her tomorrow, so I'll let you know if we've found the right one!
Edit 2: After talking to her, we think that it's probably Catherine Cookson. She wasn't 100% sure, but she liked the beginning of the book I grabbed from the library, and that's probably as close as we'll get! Thanks again for all of your help!
