Fantasy book series about death(?) and his female companion

Few small details I can recall that might help:
- A point was made that someone's real name can be used to control them or something, so the girl has to come up with a nickname
- A clone of the girl is made from her mirror that pretends to be her so she can be about with death without anyone noticing, and the girl gets all the clone's memories when she gets back
That's about it tbh, I'll edit if I can think of any other details but it was a good few years ago
