I’m looking for a book I read in the early 2000s which is when it could have come out.

It’s about a man living in an apartment style complex above a mall and there he meets several characters who he grows close with.

The leading character used to work in a froyo or smoothie shop (I can’t remember). One night that he’s closing up the shop, a man in his bicycle comes in and they connect. The cyclist is the owner of the apartment/mall so they live together after a while of going out. But the cyclist is always on business trips so the leading character spends his time online, chatting with strangers or hanging out with this neighbors.

I’m sorry if my storytelling is not good but that’s most of what I remember. I tried looking up different terms of what I described but didn’t generate anything. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
