Children’s book, possibly early 90s. I think I would’ve been in elementary school I recall that it had illustrations but the focus was the story (meaning, this wasn’t a picture book). I remember thinking the art was strange but cool bc it seemed so different and almost “dark” compared to typical brightly colored kids stuff. I don’t think the stories were dark.

The one part of the story I seem to recall is that I believe the kid involved was on a road trip or in a car and says “I’m hungry, I’m thirsty, I have to go to the bathroom”

I remember getting this from the public library. I believe it was a series. Possibly a hardcover book (with an illustrated jacket sleeve as the cover). Pretty sure the characters were white.
