I have so little memory of these books that this is a hard one.

Around the year 2000, I bought several books all by the same author.

These books were action/spy thrillers and very much a dollar store Tom Clancy. The same plot beats, spy agencies, military hardware, dastardly Russians etc.

The author wasn’t a name I recognized at the time and I simply bought them on a “that’s a cool cover” whim. They were I’m sure little remembered pulp paperbacks. I’m no expert on the genre, though.

As I remember I bought three but there were more and the covers were all quite uniform and in the same style. Two were red, one was purple, very much in the style of Clancy’s Red Storm Rising, with mostly block color.

The problem is that these books were likely printed several times and I simply don’t recognize them without these covers. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were rereleased to cash in on Clancy’s The Bear and the Dragon which was released in 2000.
