I'm looking for a memoir written by a man whose family fostered a school age boy and ultimately adopted him. At some point, toward the end, the boy broke a window or two. I think there was something about a bicycle as well, but I don't remember much else. They lived in a rural area if I remember correctly, in the US.
What stood out for me was how the family got in over their heads with this child, who I believe had been through several previous foster homes and had some serious behavior issues, but they decided to stick it out no matter what and made it work.
I believe I read this book sometime between 2005 and 2012. It was probably published sometime in the 2000s.
