How Can I Get a Number for WhatsApp?

Before anyone mentions using Google Voice, Textnow etc. Just dont. They don't work anymore
I have a Verizon number but WhatsApp isn't recognizing it as a real number and because WhatsApp no longer recognizes Voip numbers, im sort of at a loss. I've considered asking someone to use their number just to register but im not sure what sort of consequences there could be if I did that.
Anyone have a solution?
