how to successfully transfer whatsapp chats from android to ios

i just recently got a refurbished iphone 13 and was planning to transfer everything from my android phone to my new phone. using the move to ios app, i was able to transfer at least my contacts and photos successfully, but i can't transfer whatsapp chats. the option is there, and when my android phone said it finished transferring, instead of bringing me back into the move to ios app, it just went to my home screen, and i can't continue finishing up the setup. did anyone else experience something similar to this?
