This plant has been living in the window above my kitchen sink for about 3 years. It hasn’t been touched in probably 2. What is it and how is it still alive? (We are in North Carolina)

Post Body

This thing was bought at Lowe’s for my(then) 11 year old son to have something to put in the beautiful pot he made in art class. For about the first year, it was in his bedroom and he did a pretty good job of taking care of it. It got moved to the kitchen window at some point and has been there since. I’ve asked everyone in the house if anyone has been taking care of it since it has been there, and as far as I know, it has not been watered or anything. This window does not get direct sunlight. What is this plant?
