I watched this when I was a kid. I only have a few memories of what the film was about, but it stuck in my memory.

It must have been filmed somewhere between 1980- 1990. Probably more like the early 80s. I had watched it on ITV or Channel 4 at the time. All I remember was that it was filmed in a place like New Zealand or Tazmania. Possibly even Australia. It starred 11 year old Ellie who was an Orphan. Her name could have been short for Eleanor or Elizabeth. Possibly escaped from an Orphanage and ended up traveling with a 25 year old (Approx) escaped convict, or criminal with anger issues. They were trying to reach or escape from a location. I remember Christchurch, New Zealand being mentioned. I remember at one point he was inside a church and smashed up the church Altar. The film may have been set during or after the Vietnam War, or set in a period of time way before the film was done.

I guess the film genre is action/adventure.
