I don't think it's the alcohol and tobacco lobby, as much as it's the powers that be not wanting people to question the social order.
I give acid a lot of credit for giving me the perspective necessary to quit my high paying but deeply soul crushing corporate job and start my own business as a carpenter.
I assume one of the big findings from the MK ultra experiments were that soldiers became much more independent and less likely to follow orders after their experiences with LSD.
I wouldn't say "totally" different... They both seem to affect the same parts of the brain in a very similar way.
