cross country road trip car?

so basically am planning on driving from LA to NYC and back this summer with my dog. my budget for a car is roughly $5k. ideally looking for a wagon or a van so we can sleep in it if needed. i’m also partial to late 80’s-early 90’s cars. obviously need something with a reliable engine, something with widely available parts is a bonus too. so far am looking at Previa’s and Volvo 240/740 but wanna know if there’s anything else i should be looking at. thanks!
