Car was stolen, looking for thoughts on a few replacement options I'm reviewing. Semi-rural but mostly driving normal roads.
Post Body

My last car was a 2020 Kia Sportage, was stolen last week. Still in the waiting period with insurance but I'm not really expecting it to turn up, it's probably going to be written off as a loss. I liked it well enough, but didn't love it, and with the recalls and Kia's safety and engine issues track record, maybe the crook did me a favor.

I've been researching for a compact SUV replacement and have narrowed down to four cars that look like good potential replacements:

  • Mazda CX-30
  • Honda HR-V
  • Jeep Compass 4x4
  • Nissan Kicks

I WFH so don't drive much, but I'm moving to a rural area and need something reliable. Mostly driving on normal roads, but needs to be comfortable driving on country roads (dirt/gravel mix) and possibly light off road. Buying new because the used market looks crazy right now, cars as old as 2016 going for practically new prices minus only $1k-$3k in my area with anywhere from $40k to $100k miles on them, so used isn't worth it to me to save that little.

The Mazda CX-30 is my absolute favorite of the bunch from what I've seen, but there aren't many Mazda dealers around me, and I'm leaning toward the Nissan Kicks as my second choice (or maybe even first). The only caveat to the Kicks that I see is it's FWD whereas the others all have AWD options.

The other two (Jeep and Honda) are mostly just because nothing's guaranteed on availability and I'll absolutely need a new car ASAP.

Any thoughts on these cars for their current models and why one might be a better choice over the others? The Kicks is cheap, which is nice (around $5k-6k less than the other models), and the other three are all priced pretty close (within $1k of each other) in my area. Looking at spending a max of $32k, less if possible and all four CUVs are in that range.
