Help buying a Car - NZ
Post Body

Hey everyone,

Been looking at cars over the past few weeks to narrow down on what I'd like to buy, but now I am stuck. I'd like something sporty, Automatic and a hatchback, but with so many models of cars to choose from it's become a bit confusing.

I am living in New Zealand so European cars can be a bit more expensive to fix or maintain.

I have a few cars I have been eyeing but wanted some more advice on these cars.

2005-2008 BMW 118I/120I M-sport

I like the sporty style of the BMW, has nice interior, great safety rating and decent Mileage.

Seems like there's a few models to choose from with the 1 series, which is best/most reliable?

2005-2008 VW Golf GTI

Similar to the BMW but the interior isn't as nice, and not as sporty looking, lower safety rating and decent mileage.

Is it worth going for the GTI or is the GT or even TSI/FSI models better?

2007-2009 Honda Fit RS

Interior and trim is basic, not very sporty looking, average safety rating and great gas mileage.

Cheaper to repair and modify.

2005-2008 Suzuki Swift Sport

Pretty much the same as the Honda, apart from a few of the sports models coming with Recaro seats.

Not confident with the amount of mods I'd be able to find where I live.

Open to suggestions on other vehicles, as long as it is a Hatchback, Automatic and somewhat sporty/has some grunt to it.

Any help would be much appreciated.

$6500 budget.
