Like I said, my Mazda (2004 2.3 liter Mazda3 sedan) is not long for this life. The engine was about dead (I thought) when I bought the car at around 346,000 miles. Now it's over 363,000 miles and it seems like every time I drive it there is another new sound, the last 3 or 4 of the new sounds seem to be coming from the transmission. So, I am in fairly desperate need of a car before the old guy croaks. I'm wanting a 4 door sedan or hatchback, preferably with RWD. My budget is probably $2,000 max. Any suggestions? (If it helps, my location is Midwest USA). Edit: my budget may increase by a few thousand dollars whenever I get my severance from the military, but I am unsure of when that will happen as my medical discharge has been in the process for nearly a year.
