Post Body

I've been looking for a smaller hatchback with good MPG.

The cars I'm looking at have similar number of miles on them (36.5k on the Honda, 44k on the Hyundai). They're the same price ($9,999 for the Fit, $9900 for the Accent).

Both cars seem to be in good shape. I generally enjoyed driving the Accent more but definitely didn't hate the Fit. There are two mitigating factors:

  • The Fit doesn't have a warranty, where the Accent still has what's left of its 10 year/100,000 mile warranty.

  • The Accent had a crack in the windshield and needed some minor bumper repairs when I saw it. They also hadn't cleaned it, saying that they'd just got it in two days before. Still drove great. They said they're going to repair and clean it but I was definitely spooked a little. Obviously I'm going to have these cars inspected, but spooked nonetheless.

I am still leaning towards the Accent. Thoughts? Am I being naive about some shadiness or do used cars often have some minor repairs to be made when a dealer gets them?

Update: 2013 Fit sold to someone else. However, there's a 2012 Fit, 56k miles, manual transmission, for $9999 available as well. Still leaning fit?
