Cherry Red '75 Ford Elite for $3k, 96k miles. Yea or Nay? (Details inside)
Post Body

Hey /r/whatcarshouldibuy,

Here's the story- I recently graduated from college and have a swell job all but lined up in the 57-65k range, with several other offers in the same area pending. I've never owned a car, and I had to suffer through endless ridicule in high school because I drove my dad's 91 Honda Civic DX, which is anything but sex on wheels. Since then, I've been dreaming of getting a really big American muscle car and driving around looking like a million bucks.

Yesterday, I stumbled across this deal. Guy doesn't want to pay as much for gas (I'm estimating this car gets 8-10mpg), so he's letting it go for cheap. I'm more than ok with the low gas mileage, considering that I absolutely ADORE this car, and my finances will be able to support it more than adequately.

My only issue is that it's a Ford. Everyone I've talked to has been telling me not to buy it because it's a Ford, throwing acronyms at me like "fix or repair daily," and generally harshing my buzz. Figured I'd come here to ask whether or not Fords really are that bad.

One other item of note: ideally I'd like to drive the car cross-country from Denver to Atlanta (where the job is), because I have tons of time and I've always wanted to road trip in a real machine. Is this a terrible idea?

Thanks in advance,

/u/Daveaham_Lincoln
