Hello, I live in Central Texas and our summers are BRUTAL!!! I do have a 2-car garage and have a garaged Tesla Y and Subaru Outback, I’m considering swapping out the Tesla for a SUV that can be parked in the driveway and handle a consistent weather beating, especially our summers which have 90 !consecutive days of 100 degree weather. The plan is to put a toy or some toys in place of where the Tesla occupies today 😆 Needs & wants are towing capacity for jet skis, rear bench seat for dogs to ride in comfort, practical city driving, and amazing road trip vehicle because we make a lot of these. I’m not interested in a pickup truck. I do like a big V8 and similar with significant HP and get-up-and-go.
Budget is up to $70K, but would like to keep it at $60K or less.
Some things I’ve looked at are: Ford Explorer ST / Mazda CX90 / Volvo XC90 / Yukon AT4 / Tahoe Z71 / BMW X5 / Nissan Armada or Infinity QX80 / Lexus GX
The Y is very budget friendly, can tow for my needs, and ticks all the boxes - but the range is awful for any road trip over 300 miles, which would be made worse when towing.
EDIT: Towing needs would be the lightest of lightweight needs. Think bike rack, cargo platform, or single jetski on a trailer. The max need would be a double jetski trailer, and I don’t have two (today).
