Days ago, I was a witness in a situation where post battery swap on a ~4yo VW, a buddy had to plug in a device in the OBD so that he can edit battery info parameters and clear up a bunch of error codes before starting up the car eventually. I guess it's not a hassle if you have the device/appropriate apps, but being a plug & play guy, was just curious if there's a cutoff year where people who are into hassle free DIY repairs can safely target a used car purchase while being sure they're buying a totally plug n play servicing experience?
