What do you usually do when waiting to lose control?

What do you do to pass time while in the zone when sort of too
distracted to concentrate on other things than holding, but not quite
yet losing control either?
How to make that period shorter? Any tricks on losing control faster? Caffeine including liquids do make the urge slightly more urgent; anything else?
