So I realize that there's much that doesn't make sense but this just struck me as one more thing. So in season 4 we start out in the West and the new park is somewhere in the West. But the outlier that they go to get is in New York City. So I guess they just trapsed all the way from somewhere in the West to New York City and back in I guess the blink of an eye. And at some point traveled by boat for part of their journey. It just seemed crazy to me that they were traveling back-and-forth to get outliers in New York but living out in the condemn lands in the West. Perhaps the United States shrunk though..

I'm also wondering if the people at that diner were were infected or outliers.
