I (18m, inhabitant of the US) have a distance relationship with a girl (17f, Panamanian) and we’ve done a lot for each other. She turns 18 in November and she thinks she can make it on her own once she gets there, but these last months her home life is getting worse. She’s mentally and physically ill, her mom yells at her, hits her, and makes her work constantly. There are days when she doesn’t eat, sometimes because her eating disorder and sometimes because there is no food. She cleans constantly but every time she comes back from school, her house is filthy. She facetimes me crying that she’s got to clean everything again because her mom is a slob and her dad doesn’t do anything. She takes care of her sister’s baby because her sister doesn’t care and left the baby. She doesn’t get a break ever. I have to talk her out of suicide frequently but I feel like there’s only so much I can say, I need to do something. I can send money but she can’t receive money. She’s deathly afraid of any child protection systems in the country. She doesn’t trust anybody at school but I feel like there’s gotta be someone there but i can’t and won’t force her to do anything.
