I feel that online relationships can be really great because it's much easier to cut through the bullshit and connect on a very deep level. In my relationship we were fully honest with each other very early on about what we want from life, what we want in a partner, life philosophies, etc. From there the connection grew very strong.
But then as you keep talking you get more into the day to day things in life. How you typically spend your days, how social you are, your hobbies and interests, your political views, how you interact with others, etc. And hopefully there's some overlap there, even if there are some differences you at least want to have something in common, right?
So if you haven't met this person irl yet, it's pretty hard to tell how your lives would mesh together, but I think you can get glimpses based on the day to day interactions. And if things seem like they might not mesh well, at what point do you call it? We're still several months away from meeting and it would be a long international trip for both of us. And while the connection is still incredibly strong, the hopes of future enmeshment are just feeling more and more bleak.
Is the connection enough? How legitimate is this worry when you haven't even had the chance to try out the irl experience?
