So I just got off the phone with someone from the county clerk's office and they were wholly unhelpful with giving me information on this. We're trying to get our friend to officiate our wedding, we just don't know the proper steps that need to be taken in order to make that happen.
Does he need to be sworn in by a magistrate or something? I'm extremely confused by this whole process and it seems it's all on me to figure it out. The lady on the phone just couldn't wrap her head around the idea that I didn't want a minister to perform the ceremony, even though I explained I wasn't religious.
I guess if push comes to shove, I can get the magistrate to do it that morning, and just get my friend to perform the ceremony (even though it isn't the legal ceremony), I don't actually have to tell anyone, right?
