Are toasts planned?

My FW and I struggling with whether or not we should plan the toasts with the people we expect to give them. Her concern is that it feels like we're asking people to give us a pat on the back. I'm more trying to make sure we know everything that happens and everyone involved knows what's expected of them, at both rehearsal and reception.
So ought the toasts be planned and discussed, or do we leave it alone?
