I’ve put money down on my dress, and am supposed to put more down this week so they will start making it. It’ll take 8 months to be made and arrive, and the dress shop recommended their own and one other alterations shop with the time frame of 2-3 months. I need to delay this payment another two weeks and am TERRIFIED I can’t get it done in time. We are looking at a July 20/21, 2019 wedding.

My alterations will be simple... hemming (hopefully not, I’ll have her go with the flat footed measurement because I refuse to wear heels on my wedding day), in at the waist, maybe adjusting the cups slightly and that’s it. It’s a Pronovias dress if that helps any. I ordered it in a 12 as that’s the size I tried and she only had to use clips on my waist otherwise it was PERFECTION save being too long by about two feet. I’m paying extra for it because the dress will need reworked by those making it, since I’m only 5’3”.

I’m also wondering if maybe when the dress arrives, I can take it to Chicago to find a high end but faster turn around alterations shop. (My dress shop is in Indianapolis). Does anyone know of an alterations shop that deals with higher end gowns in Chicago that can manage some alterations in less than 2-3 months???

I have yet to call the shop yet. I’m really self conscious about not having the funds yet, which is silly but alas.

If you have other ideas I am all ears! I can afford my dress, I just was not prepared to buy it so soon and some things have come up financially. I’m looking at delaying this payment just til my next pay in two weeks.
