I am a planner by nature and like to be in charge of said plan. I'm not a control freak but I am my own wedding planner because i enjoy planning, following through on my ideas etc. Because of this, I am the only person who knows 100% of what is going on. I want things a certain way (not in a 'the place cards table has to be 45 degrees to the door with the cards 6 per row' type way) but in the general (I want the place cards on a table near the door) way. I've been good and have delegated things to people, asked for advice, asked for help. When people say they want to help 90% of the time I take them up on it.
So why, god, why do people keep wanting to surprise me? My sister wanted to surprise me with the whole bachelorette party. My MIL wanted to surprise me with something for the ceremony. Now my mom wants to surprise me with something for the ketubah. (Jewish wedding contract).
I DON'T WANT TO BE SURPRISED.
If you want to help, help. If you have an idea, tell me. But stop trying to surprise me!! Ugh. Any advice how to stop this or do I have to just roll with it?
