Bridesmaid dress help!

I have a pricing question for bridesmaid dresses. I found a dress (with two of my bridesmaids) that we all love for $185. I feel like that is a bit much to ask people to pay, but they assured me it's not a problem especially since I'm not requiring them to pay for shoes or makeup etc. I'm nervous about asking the other girls to pay that much for a dress. Am I being silly, or as a bridesmaid would you balk at that cost?
