Your thoughts and input on this are greatly appreciated.
My fiancé and I currently live in Alaska. He is not close with his family (he’s been excommunicated after he left their religion) and all of my family lives in the Midwest. We are having a simple easy (safe) ceremony here in Alaska in September to officially get married, but once it is finally safe to travel and gather again, we will go to Iowa and have a ceremony for my family (they’re very traditional and willing to pay within reason) and a reception for extended family and friends.
Everything in Iowa will have traditional flares, such as a bridal party, the dances, meal, etc. I’ve been weighing the idea of a wedding registry, but have considered only limiting it to Amazon and asking guests that if they would like (not expected) to get us a gift to please use our Amazon registry and have it shipped to our house or to gift cash/gift cards because we are very limited on how much stuff we will be able to take back with us to Alaska via plane. I hate asking for cash or gift cards or even asking for specific things, but I also don’t want to have to leave things behind because we just won’t be able to take them with us.
- Am I overthinking this?
- Is this a reasonable request?
- Are there any other suggestions or things you’d recommend?
